My air line is losing pressure. Can the TD2e help me find the leaking connection?

Yes. With the line pressurised, scan the accessible hose joints, quick couplings and pneumatic valves. The TD2e overlays leak-related sound on the camera image, helping you distinguish one connection from the next in a crowded area.

Can I check for air leaks while workshop machinery is running?

Yes, for sounds within its 2–100 kHz range. Scan the assemblies while the sound is present and compare where the acoustic image concentrates. Single-source mode highlights the strongest region; Multi-source mode helps you view several stronger sources together.

Can I inspect overhead pipes without getting right next to every fitting?

Yes, where the leak sound has a clear path to the camera. The specified working range is 0.3–60 metres, so you can begin with an overview from an accessible position.

Useful distance depends on sound strength and site conditions. Once you identify a candidate area, move closer where safe to separate nearby fittings and weaker signals. This helps you decide where a closer inspection is worth arranging.

Can I show the findings to a customer or include them in my own report?

Yes. The TD2e saves JPG images containing the acoustic overlay. Transfer them to a computer through USB Type-C or the memory card, then add them to your own inspection report with the location and repair notes.

Which frequency setting should I start with for my inspection?

For compressed-air leaks, start around 20–40 kHz. For vacuum leaks, try 30–60 kHz. If the source is unknown, begin with the full 2–100 kHz range, then narrow the band around the signal you want to investigate.

Treat these as starting points. Adjusting the band while watching the image helps you separate the relevant sound from other equipment nearby.

I visit several jobs in a day. How do I manage battery life?

The TD2e is specified for at least three hours of continuous use per battery, depending on conditions. The Professional Kit includes two batteries, so you can take a charged spare for a longer visit or another job.

Switch the camera off before changing the battery. Recharge through the dock or the camera’s USB Type-C connection using the supplied power adapter. This gives you a practical way to plan charging around your work.

I already have a basic leak detector. Where does an acoustic camera add value?
